JPS Global Investments was founded in San Diego in 2007 and is a Registered Investment Advisor. Our fiduciary duty is to our clients, for whom we manage several distinct investment strategies. We are an independent firm and earn a management fee based on the value of  assets we manage for our clients. We do not receive compensation for selling financial products, which aligns our incentives with our clients' interests: to protect and grow their wealth.

Jan Schalkwijk, CFA: Founder and Lead Portfolio Manager

Jan has over 15 years of experience in the investment industry and was vice president of investment platforms at Franklin Templeton Investments, prior to founding JPS Global Investments. Jan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA^®) charterholder. He received a propadeuse degree in Economics from Maastrich University in the The Netherlands, his bachelor of science degree from Menlo College and his master of business administration from Santa Clara University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Portland.

Jan is portfolio manager of the 2050 Portfolios and the Green Economy Strategy and also serves as co-portfolio manager/research analyst at Africa Capital Group (see Investment Strategies).

Jan currently resides in Portland, Oregon. In his spare time, Jan is an avid outdoorsman, snowboarder, traveler, and a student of history.

 

Tom Konrad, CFA: Co-Portfolio Manager Green Economy Fund, LP

Tom is a portfolio manager and writer specializing in renewable energy and energy efficiency investing. Tom is on the Green Economy investment team and serves as co-portfolio manager of the Green Economy Fund, LP.  He is Editor of clean energy investing website AltEnergyStocks.com, and writes the Green Stocks blog on Forbes.com. 

Tom is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charterholder, and has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Purdue University. He wrote his thesis on Complex Dynamics, a branch of chaos theory.  His study of chaos theory led to his conviction that knowing the limits of our ability to predict is much more important than predictions themselves, a lesson he applies to both climate science and the financial markets.

Tom lives in upstate New York. His interests are running (he has completed two marathons in under 4 hours), hiking, gardening, and woodworking.
